On Thursday, March 15th the five boroughs came together for the final week of Brookfield Place’s 5 Borough Challenge: Best Brews of NYC. New York City attendees were given the opportunity to taste and vote on the best brews of the Big Apple, while a panel of New York City’s finest beer connoisseurs (including Anne Becerra; New York City’s first certified women cicerone) chose the winning brew.
Best Brew’s finalists, Bronx Brewery, Kings County Brewers Collectives, Harlem Brewing Company, Rockaway Brewing Company & Flagship Brewing Company wowed the crowd with their competing selections. After three weeks of sampling the judges announced Brooklyn’s KCBC the overall winner with Manhattan’s Harlem Brewery winning the people’s choice title.
The Brookfield Place Winter Biergarten delivered the perfect backdrop along with live music, food, and life sized games to complete the evening. To top off all the amazing energy coming from the attendees, Best Brews of NYC raised nearly $60,000 for New Yorkers for Parks, a non-profit organization that works to build, protect, and promote parks and open spaces throughout New York City.
