Brookfield Place kicked off the holiday season on Thursday, December 1, with their second annual “Light Up Luminaries” event. The free community holiday event took place in the Winter Garden, and showcased the mesmerizing light installation, designed by the Lab at Rockwell Group. For this event, Arts Brookfield partnered with the GRAMMY Museum, an independent non-profit organization that explores and celebrates the life of music.
Visitors were able to enjoy talented performances from the quartet “The Mistletones” and members of the “New York City’s Gay Men’s Chorus,” free ice-skating at the waterfront, as well as holiday treats and beverages provided by Sprinkles, Le District, Amada, and more. Families were in abundance, and everyone was encouraged to make a holiday wish at the touch-sensitive “wishing station” under the canopy of lights. Each wish sends a wave of color through the lanterns above. The wishing experience will be open to the public through January 8, 2017 (with the exception of select dates). For every wish made, Arts Brookfield will donate 1$, up to $25,000 to the GRAMMY museum in support of music education programs.
